Ending Domestic Violence – Volunteer Event

The Family Violence Appellate Project is gearing up for a great SF community event. It is the 5th annual attorney battle of the bands fundraiser event Banding Together to End Domestic Violence.

Banding Together to End Domestic Violence June 14

Time: 5pm – 10pm

Where: 1015 Folsom Nightclub,1015 Folsom Street, San Francisco, CA, 94103

Bands from the Bay Area’s top law firms will rock out and compete in an epic musical battle for the coveted title: Best Lawyer Band in the Bay.

Though the competition is fierce, these rock star attorneys will band together for one night with one purpose: ending domestic violence in California.  All event proceeds benefit Family Violence Appellate Project (FVAP), the only legal aid nonprofit in California dedicated to empowering survivors of domestic violence by appealing and overturning dangerous court decisions that put survivors and/or their kids at risk of ongoing abuse.  Volunteers are needed for Box Office, Vote Collection and vote counting.

Want to make a difference? Here is a volunteer activity that does just that! 1 in 3 women experience domestic violence. It is hard to fathom that level of pain and suffering. Many issues involve the legal system in California.

We give criminals more status in this state, than women and kids in the midst of violence at home! There are many issues: family violence, legal issues, restraining orders, visitation, fathers removed from the home, children traumatized, lack of legal representation, missed days at work, immigration and deportation of victims with no citizenship status…. this hits everyone: communities, companies, friends, spouses, kids and schools. The need is overwhelming. But there is hope.  Get Involved! — the editor

If you missed it this year in SF, there is an FVAP event in Los Angeles and San Francisco, planning already for 2018.

We MUST help our women, families and men that have come from this pain. It is critical to help heal this damage or it will be repeated.
